Two Children Playing

The miniature car, the hat on the child in the car, the shadow of the photographer, the DELICATESSEN & LUNCH window lettering, and -- best of all -- the blurred friend on the bicycle.

Portrait of a Young Woman with Portraits

A young woman in the sunlight, ensconced in a chair and surrounded by elements of family and home: a framed photo (her grandmother?), two framed silhouettes on the wall, lovely flowers, and an open book on her lap. A beautifully composed portrait. Date and location unknown.

The Crisis (Tom Kennelly)

This is one of those photos in which the back is more interesting than the front. In this case, the back is extremely interesting -- a mystery. Intrigue. Fodder for the imagination.

The front shows a young man standing in the woods. He is smiling. The front is stamped NOV 58.

The back, however, is the best part.

In handwritten pencil it says:

Nov. 24, 1958

The, under that, in blue ballpoint pen:

Jan 16, 19
The crisis  ["crisis" is a bit bungled, as if on the verge of misspelled; the line is crossed out]

Baby on Lawn

Well, a baby on a blanket on a lawn. But what is fantastic about this image is what I call "unintentional composition": Baby With Telephone Pole Growing Out Of Its Head. How I love "mistakes" like these. Date & location unknown.

Two Women Rowing

Two woman rowing on a lake in Ohio. I think one is named Mary. Early 1930s? I especially like the juxtaposition of the two children behind them.

Once Upon A Time In New York ...

The Manhattan skyline. Date unknown.

Ice Boat

Several nattily-dressed men and women pose on a spectacular ice boat. Date, location unknown.

Birthday Cake

Two girls -- sisters? perhaps twins? -- give a birthday cake to a member of the clergy. A chance film-flare is positioned perfectly -- no retouching or enhancement was done of this "perfect imperfection" -- promise. Date & location unknown.
